Torontonians are about to get a front-row seat to some of the top new outfits and trends in Canadian fashion courtesy of Toronto Fashion Week, happening at David Pecaut Square (at King and John Sts.) from March 12 to 17.

Following a still debated name change (from LG Fashion Week to World MasterCard Fashion Week), the event will see dozens of Canadian designers show off their fall/winter 2012 wares before the city's fashion elite (as well as some bloggers and socialites). Fashion lovers who aren't in the industry can even purchase passes for the event online.

Another big change happening at this season's event is the swap-up of beauty sponsors from L'Oreal to Maybelline. From what we've seen in terms of spring makeup trends, we're expecting to see lots of bright colours and some florally pastels.

What catwalk events should you try to nab tickets for? Some of this season's most coveted shows include Rad Hourani, Ezra Constantine, Soia & Kyo, Joe Fresh and Pink Tartan. You can also take part in the FTA Swaps Fashion With The FDCC event -- a designer clothing swap -- on Friday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There's also the week's closing night show -- Dare to Wear Love. Back after a short hiatus, Dare to Wear was created by Jim Searle and Chris Tyrell, designers and founders of Hoax Couture, to raise funds and awareness for the Stephen Lewis Foundation in its support of grass roots organizations fighting the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Sub-Saharan Africa.

"This year the show will be bigger and better than ever with a combination of wonderful Canadian designers, musicians and celebrity models to raise awareness and support the Stephen Lewis Foundation,” says Tyrell. "The show has been so well-received and we are thankful for all of the talented individuals donating their time and energy to be part of this amazing event."

Can't get a ticket to any of Fashion Week's events? You can watch all of the runway happenings on a big screen, which will be placed near the tents on King St. W. And, of course, we'll keep you updated on the week's best fashions.

Until then, check out some of the must-have looks from spring/summer 2012 Toronto Fashion Week below:
