3 charged with fraud involving winning lotto ticket

Three people have been charged with fraud in an incident involving a winning lottery ticket, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

An employee at a retail location in Brampton bought a Poker Lotto ticket from their place of work, which is a violation of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation's No Play at Work policy.

After the ticket won the $100,000 prize, it’s alleged that another couple tried to cash in the winning ticket.

Vijayarani Rajagopalan, 41 and Shanmugan Rajagopalan, 45, both of Guelph, Ont., as well as Shanmugalingam Arumugam, 49 of Brampton, Ont., have been charged with fraud over $5,000.

The three are scheduled to appear in a Brampton court on April 30.
