LACOMBE, Alta. - A mayor in central Alberta has admitted to writing off tickets to a Progressive Conservative fundraiser as a municipal expense.

Lacombe Mayor Steve Christie is thanking the Lacombe Taxpayers Association for uncovering the error he made back when he was a town councillor in 2009 for a premier's dinner in Red Deer.

Christie says he knew the rules, but isn't sure how it happened.

He says he's contacted Elections Alberta to do a voluntary disclosure of the information.

Publicly funded bodies like school boards and municipalities have been barred since 2004 under the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act from contributing to political parties.

Alberta's chief electoral officer is currently investigating allegations that 10 Conservative riding associations either solicited or received illegal campaign funds.
