Toronto Fashion Week 2012: Piglets Steal The Spotlight, Twitter Approves

Runway shows are always that much more exciting when there's a surprise guest: Madonna at Jean Paul Gaultier, Kirstie Alley at Zang Toi, Rick Mercer at Bustle are just a few examples. But at Toronto Fashion Week, home designer Korhani may have topped them in the cute overload category with the most adorable of surprise guests at yesterday's runway show: baby piglets. And the Twitter-verse squee-d with delight.

Korhani's show was a stunner to begin with, with rugs and carpets restyled into dramatic, wearable pieces -- the audience 'oohed' and 'aahed' at each ensemble, but the biggest surprise came in the middle of the show: models strutted the runway with Babes in their arms, causing the crowd to heave a collective 'awwwww.' Immediately the tweets started flowing.

We're not sure how baby pigs really fit into the mix of exotic carpets and rugs, but the adorable animals were definitely a talking point online, with some loving the tiny co-stars/accessories, and others morbidly thinking of their next meal. No word yet on what PETA thought.

I sure hope this isn't going to be a new "trend". Piglets are cute but they are a living creature not a fashion accessory. What happens when the novelty wears off, or they get bigger?

Great, who's going to clean up the hipsters pig mess on Tdots streets once fashion week leaves?
