Toronto Fashion Week 2012 Backstage: Inside Look At Beauty Trends

Toronto Fashion Week Backstage Pass: Our Favourite Beauty Trends
The Huffington Post Canada

This year, besides changing Fashion Week's official name from LG Fashion Week to World MasterCard Fashion Week, the catwalk's beauty scene saw sponsorship shift from L'Oreal Paris to Maybelline Canada.

And with the change came some cool beauty looks: bold makeup, dark nails and soft, sophisticated hair.

"When it comes to creativity, Canadians are willing to step out of the box," says Jorge Joao, REDKEN artist and backstage lead hairstylist at Toronto Fashion Week 2012. He also says many of this year's designers have specific and creative thoughts on how they want their models to look.

From bold burgundy lips at Chloé comme Parris to lengthy ponytails at Martin Lim, each show has been one of a kind when it comes to hair and makeup.

Nails have also stood out.

"The devil is in the details. I don't care what you're wearing, if your nails are not done, you're a mess," says Essie Weingarten, founder of Essie Nail Polish.
