Maniwaki man charged in father's death

A 50-year-old man from Maniwaki, Que., has been arrested and has been charged Tuesday with second-degree murder in the death of his 84-year-old father.

Sûreté du Quebec Sgt. Marc Tessier said police responded to the incident Monday night at the home on St. Lionel Street in Maniwaki, about 130 km north of Gatineau.

After an investigation, police determined the death of Guy Begley, 84, was a homicide.

Charles Begley, 50, appeared in court Tuesday and was charged with second-degree murder.

Both father and son lived together in the same home, Tessier said.

An autopsy to be performed later this week will determine the exact cause of death.
