She may look every bit the part of a beauty queen, but Jenna Talackova has lost her chance for the crown because she was born a biological male.

The 23-year-old Miss Universe Canada finalist was disqualified from the competition after it was discovered she had undergone sexual reassignment surgery, reports CTV.

National director of Miss Universe Canada Denis Davila told the Toronto Star that while they consider Talackova to be a "real girl," Miss Universe rules stipulate that contestants must be a “naturally born female.”

Davila also told the Star that Talackova indicated on her registration form that she was born female. Talackova was disqualified the same day she revealed she was in fact born a male.

According to a statement from Miss Universe Canada, Talackova was disqualified because "she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form. We do, however, respect her goals, determination and wish her the best."

In a 2010 interview, Talackova said she knew she was a female at age 4 and began hormone therapy at age 14. She underwent reassignment surgery at 19.

Talackova told CTV she's "not giving up" and is consulting a lawyer. In the mean time, Miss Universe Canada has removed all photos of the Vancouver resident from their website and another woman has taken her spot.

She's beautiful, but I always wondered what happens to "the goods" after sexual reassignment surgery. Can someone still enjoy sex or have an orgasm after being modified?

After 7 or 8 days I gotta tell ya, my children used to throw fits when they didn't get their way, but with age and no discipline, these GLAAD and GLBTchildren have grown up to exceed the farthest imagination of how long fits can last. These people either need discipline and education of the basic laws of genetics or throw their own mutant pageants.
08:00 PM on 04/14/2012
Would you say that to an african american person? that their fight for equality was just a "fit"? to be treated as equals was just their silly desire to be treated with the same respect as everyone else and to be able to participate in "normal" sociocultural events? Calling a transgendered person a mutant is overwhelmingly bigoted and ignorant. I do not think it is them that needs a lesson on basic laws of genetics, I believe it is you that needs to become educated on the importance of equality, integrity, and above all compassion for our fellow humans (regardless whether or not they identify as male, female, trans, and anything inbetween).
02:11 PM on 04/18/2012
Tell me, Mr. Geneticist (Ms.? Mrs.? Other? man, this whole transgender thing sure makes things complicated), when did you CHOOSE to be straight?
10:43 PM on 04/18/2012
Hey 2crudedudes, I have to say, you ask a fair question and I'll answer it, but you'll find something about it to reply adversly to. The answer is actually a gim'me. My Creator made the gender choice for me through my Dad, and I have no reason to oppose it. I'm not going to try to shape my life to suit any lifestyle that may or may not appeal to me. If I don't find a woman I hunger for or who'll accept me as I am, then I guess I might be referred to as a batchelor. I don't know if my major life counsel, the Holy Bible, is something you might refer to, but I spend confusing times around Romans 7:14 through 7:25. You might give it a read and maybe a little thought time to contimplate it's meaning.

NEWS UPDATE!

Jenna Talackova's PHOTO (spotted April 13) is now BACK UP on the Canadian Miss Universe contest site! so now there are 66 Finalist (the replacement one for her apparently is being allowed to stay as well, instead of the prior 65 Finalist).

As I assume for now that Jenna approved of her reinstatement and the pageant with her is on for May 19th. I just hope it can been seen on the internet or USA major networks as I now would love to watch this pageant. They may end up with FAR MORE viewers than ever before, inside and outside of Canada.

Anyway .....let's the beauty competition begin!

Well, today April the 5th everything indicates she may be taken back to the contest, and your article headding, which seems to me a little bit racist (and i would like to be wrong about it) ; has lost the chance to be accurate becoming in a very odd, pathetic and too ordinary for my test.

Much ado about nothing. She is already modeling anyway. If someone wants to go to all the trouble and pain they might deserve respect rather than denial. This issue is an unreal one except in the queasy, cheesy way that men think women are "available " as though the thought repels them. Life's too short and people are dying every day for nothing, somewhere on the world. Neither Canada nor the US are democratic in people's thoughts,or there would be less racism, fewer nasty opinions about matters best given to genuine equality. The world will not end because a transgender person competes in a sexist pageant ritual anyhow. And she is pretty, no?

It would appear to me that the best way to determine gender is with DNA evidence. Personally, I do not believe it is good to keep pushing the envelope on things. We used to know clearly what a man and woman was and we also used to know what a marriage was. No one had to come up with determinations and legal statutes because it was accepted as plain and clear. I mean marriage had always been used specifically for a man and woman who were usually capable of natural mating and creating children, a reason for marriage and commitment. But things are not so clear anymore. Now we have this new thing. DNA is an acceptable form of evidence which is used and accepted in the Justice system of the United States and Canada. We should have standards. Otherwise we may start seeing cross dressers and men claiming they are women in men's bodies in our pageants and even in store changing rooms and so forth. To some, all one has to do is claim they are a woman in a mans body and that is enough proof they say. Just like this man who altered himself to appear like a woman but has none of the standard parts which usually determine that female gender. DNA testing should solve this issue without complaint. If it is good enough for the courts it is an accepted legal remedy which shall put all this nonsense to rest.

Jenna has undergone gender confirmation surgery, and has such has all the standard parts, except for a uterus, which genetic women have. I hope you do a little research on this medical condition and the procedure involved to correct it, in order to have an intelligent, enlightened opinion.

Hello Marie:

Of course he does not have a uterus. He is a man. Only a real woman would have a uterus.
Men do not have uteruses. The difference between a man and a woman is that generally women are capable of having children unlike men. While it is true that some women no longer have a uterus, due to disease, promiscuity, infected men (or women if a lesbian) or perhaps even an impinged nerve in the spine which controls those organs of the body, allowing cramps or spasms and other problems due to a lack of communication with the rest of the body and central nervous system. But if you are a man, you do not start out with eggs, Fallopian tubes, ovaries and anything else which a woman is generally known to have, naturally occurring without man made steroids or hormones. Or the other supporting segmants and DNA necessary to support womens reproductive systems. Since he is a man, he does not have any of these or even begun life as a female. Therefore, as a man, confessed and acknowledged, he does not belong in a woman's beauty pageant. No more than a cross dresser belongs in the ladies room or anyplace else specifically designated for women only. I hope this helps you. Tell the girls I said hi and keep the men out of the ladies room. I do not care if they think they are women in the bodies of men. Seek therapy and not surgery.

DNA might be helpful in determining chromosomal sex, not gender. I can tell you would like the world to be more simple than it is.

NEWS BREAK 3-4-12 On same day as LA news conference by Gloria Allred.

NOW to a statement just released by one of Miss Talackova's Canadian attorneys.

"Vancouver constitutional lawyer Joe Arvay, who is on Talackova's legal team, told The Associated Press that Miss Universe Canada's latest statement about Canadian legal gender recognition requirements is "incomprehensible."

"I have no idea what they're talking about," he said.

Arvay said the pageant requirement for "natural born" females does not comply with Canadian human rights legislation and that a complaint will be filed with the Ontario Human Rights Commission.

"In the absence of clarity, we will be proceeding," Arvay said. "At the present time, it's gobbledygook."

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/story/2012/04/02/bc-transgender-beauty-contetstant-reversal-talackova.html

So it sounds like Miss Talackova has drawn to her and assembled a formidable legal team that is willing to take the trans-acceptance issues on full bore.

Go Arvay go!

And it's not over till the trans-lady walks the beauty cat-walk!

NEW BREAK! Press Conference held in L.A. California!

News conference held by Miss Jenna Talackova with high profile attorney Gloria Allred on Tuesday 4-3-12 even after Trump organization issues confusing acceptance statement.

Last statement of this article about the story and news conference:

"Allred said that the pageant’s statement did not go far enough by not eliminating the transgender rule entirely and said she and Talackova “are considering all of Jenna’s leagal options,” and has met with legal teams in Canada, New York and California."

http://indiancountrytodaymedianetwork.com/2012/04/03/aboriginal-transgender-miss-universe-canada-contestant-jenna-talackova-fighting-disqualification-106369

So it appears that the Trump organization only issued the vague notice of acceptance by Miss Jenna Talackova once they learned there was going to be a news conference called by a high powered publicly known woman attorney!

And nothing was said about removing such requirements from applications.

It sounds as if they, Trump and his pageant team, simply didn't want the greater publicity to hurt their pageants and reputation rather than having any real change of heart or perspective.

Gloria Allred is no dummy when it comes to such slight-of-hand tactics by opponents. And likely, in my view, their judges would simply have eliminated Miss Talackova out of the competition at the first opportunity, good performance or not.

Go Gloria Allred go!!

And it's not over till the trans-lady sings!

SUPER NEWS BREAK!!
4-2-12

"New York (CNN) -- After initially disqualifying a transgender contestant, organizers of the Miss Universe beauty pageant has reversed course saying she can participate.
In a statement late Monday night, the Miss Universe Organization said Jenna Talackova can compete provided "she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions."

The statement, however, did not elaborate on what the requirements were.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, or GLAAD, commended the pageant organizer's decision Monday night.

"The Miss Universe Organization made the right decision and has taken an important first step," the group said in a statement. //
---------------

This doesn't mean Ms. is back in the competition quite yet, but this is a MAJOR step!

Much thanks to all those who tweeted, Face Book contacted, signed the protest petition and contacted Miss Universe about this discrimination!

An update will be posted when her re-entrance is finalized or denied.

There is no descrimination here. Just as men are not allowed into the ladies room, this guy should not be allowed in ladies competitions. Anyone who does not understand why men do not walk into ladies rooms and thinks that this is descrimination needs to have their heads examined. Then if that does not help, seek therapy. Stupid is as stupid does. Now who said that?

As regressive as D. Trump is, he's light years ahead of you!

And unlike Trump you continue to be grossly rude by calling Miss Tallackova "he" and "him."

The one needing some serious therapy is obviously you.

NEWS BREAK!

The petition protesting the discrimination of Miss Jenna Talackova is now OVER 40,000 and expected to hit 50,000 or more signatures!

One key post to the petition site:

"Marie Little, chair of the Trans Alliance Society, a group that promotes gender diversity in Vancouver, said she believes the incident is a “clear case of discrimination.”
Little said Talackova is a “natural-born woman” because her brain was structured before her birth.
“We are born this way,” she said. “It’s just an accident of birth that the body disagrees with the brain.”
Women compete in pageants not just because of ego, but because of the prizes, publicity and the future employment opportunities such contest bring, she said.
Keeping women like Talackova out of such events could hurt their future employment opportunities, she suggested.

And many more messages of support!

First of all, just to make it clear, I am by no means a fan of a beauty pageant. I think that they are stupid.

Secondly, after scanning some of the comments here, I am a little appalled by the ignorance that is still plaguing the country. Sure, we have all been taught in biology about what determines gender, about XX and XY and all that. BUT things are often not nearly as simple as this basis. While XX and XY may divide genders for most of the cases, the definition is not absolute. There are for instance, people that are born with an extra chromosome (ie XXY) who appear to be neither male or female. There are people born with androgen insensitivity syndrome, a disease that causes a biological male (XY) to be immune to the effects of testosterone so that they grows up looking just like a woman. Most people with this disease does not even know that they are actually biologically male until after puberty, when they do not get a period. Can you argue that they are men just because they have the XY chromosome? Just because we are fortunate enough not to have encountered these kinds of complications ourselves doesn't mean that we should make fun of others that have, or discriminate against them, or make them feel like freaks.

Please leave intersex people out of this. Way too many "trans women" are trying to muddy the waters by pretending to be intersex when they are not.

Exactly what Rose Verbena said. That is the rare of cases. Let's not confuse people who are not really having that issue and are just not into terms with how they are born.
