Man, 47, dies after single-vehicle crash on Highway 27

York Regional Police have shut down part of Highway 27 after a deadly single-vehicle collision in Vaughan.

Police say a northbound Mercedes left the road just south of Major MacKenzie Drive late Sunday morning.

"For reasons yet unknown, it crossed into the southbound lanes and into the west ditch,” Duty Insp. Gary Miner told CBC News on Sunday afternoon.

The 47-year-old male driver was removed from the vehicle. He was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Highway 27 remained closed between Major MacKenzie Drive and Rutherford Road throughout the afternoon as police investigated the collision further.
