WELLAND, Ont. - Former NDP legislature member Peter Kormos has been elected to represent Welland at the regional council.

Kormos crushed his competition by taking almost 73 per cent of the vote in Monday's byelection.

Former Welland mayor Damian Goulbourne was a distant second with 15 per cent.

Kormos did not seek re-election in last October's provincial vote.

He replaces Cindy Forster, who was elected to the legislature. (CKTB)
