There's nothing more frustrating then your expensive powdered foundation breaking into a million pieces or finding out your newly bought eyeshadow is already cracked.

In most cases, broken makeup and beauty tools can easily be fixed with household products and a lot of patience. "It's the packaging. I mainly use loose powder with a cap, but when it explodes, it's all over the bag and everything around it,"
says Vicki Millar, a makeup artist based in Toronto.

Millar says if you're trying to mend your broken eyeshadows or powders back together, make sure they don't land on dirty surfaces.

"If you drop makeup on the floor, you have to get rid of the exposed product -- the product is usually contaminated by that point," she says.

To save space and even avoid breaking lipsticks and eyeshadow all together, Millar suggests using custom palettes to press your own eyeshadows and lipsticks in place. You can also try buying pre-made palettes that include your favourite shades.

Opening a brand new tube of lipstick to find it split in two is never fun. If you're looking for a quick fix, here are some tips to consider: Using a blow dryer, melt your broken parts back together and freeze your tube in a plastic baggie. You can also use a lighter to reshape your lipstick; simply put it in the refrigerator when you're done for an hour so it can harden.
