There's nothing more frustrating then your expensive powdered foundation breaking into a million pieces or finding out your newly bought eyeshadow is already cracked.

In most cases, broken makeup and beauty tools can easily be fixed with household products and a lot of patience. "It's the packaging. I mainly use loose powder with a cap, but when it explodes, it's all over the bag and everything around it,"

Millar says if you're trying to mend your broken eyeshadows or powders back together, make sure they don't land on dirty surfaces.

"If you drop makeup on the floor, you have to get rid of the exposed product -- the product is usually contaminated by that point," she says.

To save space and even avoid breaking lipsticks and eyeshadow all together, Millar suggests using custom palettes to press your own eyeshadows and lipsticks in place. You can also try buying pre-made palettes that include your favourite shades.
