Before jumping on the spring trends bandwagon, it's important to know how to dress for your body shape.

Most of us have probably heard of the standard body shapes and figures: the hourglass, the apple, the pear, the rectangle and the strawberry. But when you're trying to imagine yourself next to an apple, you may not necessarily see a perfect fit.

We talked to personal style consultant Vassilena Johns in Vancouver on how to shop for your body shape and what to wear when you're somewhere in the middle.

"We can use the body shape guidelines to shop for pieces that will best coordinate the look we are most suited to. We don't want to look like we are trying to be something we're not. We want to wear the clothes and not let the clothes wear us," she says.

And remember, just because a trend doesn't fit your particular shape, you can always work around it.

"You can pick and choose pieces from different shapes which you most relate to," she says.

With the help of our expert, we teach you how to shop and style for your body shape and what to do when you fall somewhere in between.
