It’s spring! And that means brighter days, brighter clothes and brighter LIPS! Now, I’m usually an eye-makeup kind of girl, but I do love the fresh look of a bright lip—and I yearn to love how it looks on me. Here’s how I attempt to step outside of my usual smoky-eye comfort zone and rock the bright lip!

Good skin. A perfect canvas always sets the tone for polished make-up. Besides your vivid statement lips, pulling off the bright lip look is all about the make-up you can’t see – ie flawless +skin, plumped-up lashes and filled-in brows. Naturally enhance these features so that statement lips remain the focus.

Speaking of focus, keep the intensity of your make-up to one area of the face. When I’m playing up my lips, my eyes get the backburner. That means I’m skipping the usual heavy eyeshadow and eyeliner routine. For a bright lip look, I apply minimal eyeliner, curl my lashes and add plenty of mascara.

Define your brows. Well-groomed full brows help to balance a strong lip look…without looking like too much eye make-up. Fill in your brows as necessary for a bright (and lifted!) look.

Add some flush. Strong colour on the lips can really draw all the colour out of your face towards the lips, making you look paler than normal. Warm up the complexion with a peachy-pink blush or a bronzer.

Precise application. For a bright lip, application has to be dead-on so I use a lip brush for more control.

Some of my fave bright lip colours include Maybelline’s Coral Crush and Joe Fresh's Fuchsia.

What bright lip colours are you wearing lately?
