3 die in fire at Whitby home; cause under investigation

WHITBY, Ont. - Durham Regional Police say two females and one male have died following a house fire in Whitby, Ontario, overnight.

Inspector David Brown of the Regional Duty Office told The Canadian Press the victims were pronounced dead at hospital.

Their identities have not been released.

Brown says the fire broke out shortly after midnight and the scene on Dundas Street West is being examined by the Fire Marshal's Office.

A dog was rescued from the site and is expected to survive.
