FREDERICTON - More than 550,000 voter information cards are being distributed to New Brunswick residents in advance of municipal elections on May 14.

Elections NB says the elections include contests for posts on the district education councils and regional health authority boards.

Electoral officer Michael Quinn says a unique bar code printed on each card helps polling staff use hand-held scanners to find the voter's name on electronic lists.

Eligible voters who do not receive a card or who do not bring it to the polling station will be directed to a team at each station that will check the voters list or add the person if necessary.
