When are the Libs going to quit whining. Stop tryiing to find ways to overtunr the election. You guys were seen as the third party in Canadian politics in the last election and that is how it turned out. It could change, but it isn't if you guys keep this up. You may have been "Canada's Natural Governing Party" (your words), but you may not be going forward. It isn't up to you guys, the citizenry decides it. I am no Tory supporter, but this incessant Libearl whining is getting really, really tiresome. Between this and Marc Garneau's wanting back his toys, its no wonder no one is listening to you guys. Grow up.

I think calling this whining is failure to understand the seriousness of the issue. I think it is folly for Canadians to take a relaxed approach to subversion of the democratic process. If the conservatives get away with it next time, imagine how brave they will be in subsequent elections.

I can see where this letter would have encouraged people to vote illegally and that clearly appears to be the intention since it specifically targeted "visiting relatives".

It will be especially interesting if these events are also tied to the "missing" voter registration forms.

If you are a Canadian citizen living abroad you can vote in federal elections using a special mail-in ballot.
Reminding people who are living abroad to excercise their franchise is hardly electoral fraud.
Reminding people to remind their family members who are living abroad to vote isn't fraud either.
It's a reasonable a prudent strategy to pick up as many stray votes as possible.
As long as it was 'conservative party' money and not federal funds.

I think its the wording of the letter. Its telling them to have visiting family vote at the the polling station which they are not allowed to do. They have to vote by special ballot. If they voted at the polls, and voted by ballot, that raises an issue. If you start putting all of these issues together, you start to see a pattern.
“Canadian citizens who live in other countries can vote in this election. Please ensure that family members visiting for Yom Tov (Passover) go to vote.”
