TORONTO - Occupy Toronto protesters rallied against mining giant Barrick Gold this morning after spending the night in a downtown park.

The protesters accuse Barrick of human rights and environmental abuses in countries where it operates.

They demonstrated in Simcoe Park which is across the street from the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, where Barrick is holding its annual meeting.

The demonstrators moved to the park after taking part in May Day events.

While parks officials said the protesters could stay overnight, police warned they would enforce a bylaw against setting up tents.

Three demonstrators were arrested for trying to pitch a tent.

Police pulled the structure down and said the protesters will receive a fine. (The Canadian Press, 680News)
