SASKATOON - A makeshift noose and a suicide note were found in the Saskatoon cell of man who was awaiting sentencing for child sexual assault.

That's what Sgt. Rob Cleveland told an inquest Monday into the death of 27-year-old Travis Parenteau at the Saskatoon Provincial Correctional Centre in June 2010.

The inquiry's goal is to determine when, where and how Parenteau died and recommend how it could be prevented in the future.

Cleveland photographed the cell where Parenteau's body was found the day before Parenteau was to be sentenced for sexually assaulting a child.

The six jurors will be able to question the 10 witnesses, corrections workers, police officers and health professionals.

Also in court are Parenteau's mother and two sisters, who have been granted standing status at the inquiry, which means they are able to cross examine the witnesses.

ummm... "The inquiry's goal is to determine when, where and how Parenteau died and recommend how it could be prevented in the future."

they found him hanging in his cell. I think that solves that case Capt. Obvious.

I have to agree with the majority on this one, every child molester should be allowed enough rope and paper! This will save our children and our government will save money. Win, win.

When one books a hotel for a night, said room comes with soap, shampoo and towels ... to make one's stay more delightful;

How about we leave rope, paper and a pencil in jail cells ... to make one's stay ...

well, our lives more delightful.

Shush...the bleeding-heart liberal Human Rights Commission might be knocking on your door at midnight to whisk you away for a little "re-eduation".

Not at all, your politics cloud your judgement.

I'm as liberal as it gets, I'm against the death penalty, etc. But I have no issues whatsoever if a criminal wants to commit suicide.
