A man convicted of being married to two women at the same time was told Tuesday he will be spending his weekends in jail.
David Jones, 51, who had pleaded guilty this winter to a charge of bigamy, was sentenced in Corner Brook provincial court to 45 days in jail.
Jones was told that he can serve his time on weekends.
The Crown had asked for a sentence of between two and three months, while the defence had argued that two to three months' probation would have been sufficient.
Jones had married a woman from Newfoundland's Codroy Valley in 2009, but had not told her that he had married another woman, in Manitoba, 13 years earlier.
