Councillors in the Okanagan city are at the mercy of mother nature as they try to clean up the construction site, which has been untouched since 2008 when the original developer ran out of cash after setting up a crane and pouring the foundations.
The new owner, Calgary-based Platinum Equities, has been ordered to dismantle the crane towering above the property, and Platinum says it will comply — but it literally doesn't want to ruffle any feathers.
An osprey has built a nest atop the crane and Platinum says that means nothing can be done until the bird and her brood move out, likely in October.
In the meantime, a restaurant located in the splatter zone below the osprey's nest will have to endure the situation through the summer.
The owner of Waterfront Wines says recent renovations have included a new roof over the patio, to protect customers from the pitter patter of osprey poop. (CHBC)Suggest a correction
