CBC's new digital Hamilton service, which provides local news, weather, traffic and information about things to do around the Ontario city, was officially launched today.
“Connecting people to their neighbourhoods and communities is a key part of the service CBC provides to Canadians,” said Kirstine Stewart, executive vice-president of CBC English Services.
“We are so pleased to be coming to Hamilton with this innovative new digital service.”
All content on CBC Hamilton can be accessed through desktop, tablet or mobile devices. A customizable map is a prominent feature of the service — visitors can zoom in to their neighbourhood and find out what's going on around where they live.
The service, based in an office on James Street North, will feature contributions from CBC reporters Jessica Young, Samantha Craggs, Julia Chapman, well-known local journalist Paul Wilson and local bloggers.
CBC Hamilton's producer is Conrad Collaco, and Roger Gillespie is the executive producer.
CBC Hamilton is one of five new local services being rolled out as part of CBC's 2015 strategy: Every One, Every Way.
