A 53-year-old man is recovering in hospital after he was shot by Montreal police early Thursday morning.
Montreal police were called to an apartment on Jean Talon Street near the Iberville metro station just after 1 a.m. to investigate a domestic dispute, according to the Quebec provincial police which has been called in to take over the investigation.
When officers arrived, they found a woman with her face bloodied. A man who was also in the apartment allegedly threatened the officers with a knife.
An officer fired at least one shot and the man was hit.
He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police have set up a command post in the area and were speaking to witnesses Thursday morning.
