Falcon chicks emerge from shells atop Winnipeg hotel

Princess and Ivy, a pair of Peregrine falcons nesting in a dedicated space atop the Radisson Hotel in downtown Winnipeg, complete with a live web-cam, have three new mouths to feed.

Two chicks broke out of their shells early Saturday morning. Later, one of the adults could be seen feeding the chicks and three little birds were clearly visible.

An official with the Peregrine Falcon Recovery Project confirmed the hatching of the chicks.

The first two chicks hatched sometime between midnight and 3 a.m. CT. The third chick emerged shortly after 9:30 a.m.

Another camera is aimed on Hurricane, a falcon who is still waiting for her brood on top of the McKenzie Seeds building in Brandon, Man.
