Quebec police have released the name of a 57-year-old man found murdered in his own home on Saturday afternoon.
Richard Blanchet's body was discovered by a family member at about 1:15 p.m. Saturday at 476 Route Principale (Highway 307).
MRC des Collines police arrived at the scene to conduct interviews and tape off the area. Sûreté du Québec police were called in to help with the investigation and arrived later in the evening.
Police said no arrests had yet been made as of early Sunday afternoon. Police would not say whether they have any suspects.
Damage seen at the home indicates there could have been a break-and-enter.
Neighbours told CBC News on Saturday they didn't know who lived there and were surprised to learn that someone in the area had been murdered.
The victim's home is about 40 minutes from downtown Ottawa in Val-des-Monts.
Blanchet's death is the second homicide in the Outaouais in the past month.
On April 29, 18-year-old Nicolas Quintal was found dead in an abandoned car in the Pontiac region. His 19-year-old friend has been charged with second-degree murder.
