Police have released the names of two teenage brothers killed in a car crash early Saturday morning.
Richmond RCMP say the victims have been identified as Jess Moses, 16, and Shane Moses, 19.
The brothers were killed when the car they were travelling in swerved off of Number 4 Road and hit a tree on the passenger side, leaving the driver with minor injuries and killing the two passengers.
"We just can't believe it. It's unbelievable," said Gerry Jorger, the boys' grandfather."[Their mom] is devastated. Her whole family is gone."
Jorger said it appears the boys were heading back from a small party at a friend's house when the accident happened, and the driver may have been drinking earlier that night.
He said the tragedy serves as a warning to other teenagers.
"Don't drink and drive. Don't get in a car with somebody who gets behind the wheel and is drunk," Jorger said. "When you're a teenager, you figure you're [indestructible]. I did the same thing. We all did the same thing."
Police said at the time they believed the 20-year-old driver of the BMW may have been intoxicated or speeding when he lost control of the car, and he may face charges of speeding and impaired driving causing death.
"This was a senseless tragedy in a long line of these types of events," said RCMP Sgt. Cam Kowalski. "Our thoughts and prayers remain with the family during this incomprehensible time. RCMP will continue what will surely be a lengthy investigation."
