Tim Hortons now accepts Visa

Canadians can now pay for their Tim Hortons coffee and doughnuts with Visa credit cards, the coffee company announced Tuesday.

The coffee chain began accepting Visa in its retail stores and Visa debit online Tuesday.

“Tim Hortons is pleased to align with Visa to offer our guests the convenience of using their Visa card to pay for purchases in our restaurants or on our website,” said Tim Hortons chief executive Roland Walton.

Once cash-only, Timmy’s began accepting MasterCard at its registers in 2007 and introduced debit in 2010.

Visa said the use of its payment systems at Tim Hortons adds value to its brand.

“Having Canada’s most popular restaurant chain accept Visa reinforces the tremendous value that comes with Visa acceptance, while meeting consumer demand for payment choice at the register,” said Jim Allhusen, country manager of  Visa Canada in a statement.
