Celine Dion's Laval, Quebec Mansion For Sale, Asking For More Than $29 Million (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

The Huffington Post Canada  |  Posted: Updated: 05/20/2012 10:48 am

If you want to know how it feels to live like Celine Dion, it'll cost you a bit of money — $29,655,500 to be exact.

The Canadian songstress is selling the Laval, Que. mansion that she and her husband Rene Angelil had custom-built in 2001. The price is steep, but the 24,000 square-foot home is situated on a private island and comes with a bounty of antique furniture.

The abode has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a stone wine cellar with tasting area, an elevator, an in-ground pool (with a pool house, naturally), a grand staircase and games room. And if that's not enough to feast your eyes on, there's also water views and 830,000 square feet of gated, secure private island for the kids to play on.

Dion is selling the French Normand Chateau-style home because of her commitments in Las Vegas, Ross McCredie, president and CEO of Sotheby’s International Canada, told the National Post.

“It took them a long time to make this decision,” he told the National Post. “It was a passionate thing for them to make. And in the end, they just haven’t been using it enough … They plan to purchase another home in Montreal that’s much smaller.”

According to a press release, representatives for Dion and Angelil said, "Ms. Dion's roots and family are here in Quebec, and as such, she will maintain a residence here."

For now, the family have shacked up in their other giant mansion on Jupiter Island, Fla. that's decked out with a backyard waterpark.

Odds are you don't have $30 million sitting around, but you can check photos of the "once-in-a-lifetime offering" here:

Very Opulent, but feels lonely, especially on an island.A hard sell I bet, especially at that price.

I am sure the workmanship is impeccable its more the decor that's the problem.... why all the tables and gaudy curtains. It looks like something my mother would have liked and Celine is younger than me. The TV room just doesn't fit as it is modern and completely different than all the other rooms. Maybe she filmed a reality show and had a contest and chose a decorator to decorate a different room each. I am not sure there were any winners...well maybe the kitchen

Nice back Carriage House, but when is she going to build the main place out front?

A few words come to mind.....ostentatious, gaudy and garish. They all mean the same, I just couldn't decide which one was more fitting! The home needs a total makeover!

If memory serves me right she spent 20 grand to demolish the existing house to build this. Money has no limits.

I've built a lot of houses.
Entry level to executive to high end custom.
Quite a few Dream Homes for raffles ect.
When regular folks have come into these high-end builds usually the reactions is like "WOW".
Cause the places are exceptional.
Design, style, features, extras, built-ins materials ect.
Its special.
It's extraordinary.
I would love to check this place in person.
Looks like a hell of a lot of detail and craftsmanship went into building the place.
To make these disparaging remarks is to ignore the sweat and love that goes into a project like this.
All us meatball construction types look forward to these kinda jobs.
A chance to show what we can do other than the regular shoebox subdivision rote.
A hundred years from now these homes will we be the standard by which craftsmen/women of today are judged.
Remember....
The Palace at Versailles started out as a hunting lodge.lol

Celine would by a Rolls then head to Canadian Tire to decorate it with tiny purple lights and bobble-headed dogs.

I'm surprised that Celine the Ego doesn't charge that to drive by Chez Ostentatious.

I skimmed through the first 16 pics - ostentatious is the word that leapt off the screen.
Can't say as I'm surprised though, I can easily imagine Dion and Angelil choosing this. It screams nouveau-riche, more money than taste.

It looks like the kind of ostentatious place that Donald Trump would own!

This house was designed and furnished in that vastly over-decorative style I like to call

"Go-For-Baroque!"

(with a few flourishes from the late Grotesque Period thrown in for good measure!)
