Ottawa Sex Exhibit: Dean Del Mastro Says Show Isn't Biology, People Can Go To Adult Video Store Instead (VIDEO)

Ottawa Sex Exhibit Del Mastro
Tory MP Dean Del Mastro said a sex exhibit at an Ottawa museum is not science or biology on CBC's "Power and Politics" Thursday. Del Mastro also suggested Canadians could go to adult video stores if they wanted to see content like that in the exhibition. (YouTube)

A sex education exhibit at an Ottawa museum isn't science or biology according to Conservative MP Dean Del Mastro.

The parliamentary secretary to the prime minister made the comments on CBC's "Power and Politics" on Thursday.

Asked about Sex: A Tell-All Exhibition, currently on at the Science and Technology museum, Del Mastro said "It is definitely not science and technology."

“Clearly, it is science,” interjected CBC host Evan Solomon.

“It’s called biology Dean,” said Liberal MP and medical doctor Carolyn Bennett.

“No,” insisted Del Mastro. “It’s not called biology, it’s called many things but it is not biology Dr. Bennett,” he said.

Del Mastro went on to say that "People can go to their average adult video store if they want to see this type of thing."

Heritage Minister James Moore, Del Mastro's colleague, has been under fire for harshly criticizing the exhibit. After contacting the museum to voice his concerns, the age limit to see the exhibit without a parent was raised from 12 to 16 years of age.

Moore has insisted he did not specifically instruct the museum to make any changes. The museum operates as an arms-length Crown corporation and therefore does not take orders from the government.

The Minister needs to make more use of the most important organ in the body with regards to sex. Beeeep wrong answer - sorry Minister - it's not that - it's the brain!

Get rid of sex education and kids will be learning about sex from porn. More than they already are I mean.

Dean seems to know more about adult video shops than he does about museums... just sayin.

Guess he'd be putting clothes on the statues of David and Venus de Milo. Also,he doesn't seem to realize that under a certain age ,one cannot rent adult videos. Also,he doesn't need sex ed as he belongs to a party that is screwing this country. As this is an exhibit, people do not have to go and that he did not grasp.Loved your comment.

Your average highschool age kid gets their information about sex from Grade 9 sex ed and porn they download when their parents aren't looking. This exhibit sounds like exactly what kids 12 and up should be seeing so they can get the honest truth, not just porn glamour.

Just what I want my 12 year old to spend his day contemplating:

Next to a printed question asking, ‘Why do many boys always want to have anal sex?’ sexologist Jamy Ryan responds that not all boys want to do it, but: “If you are comfortable trying that activity, go ahead and do it. It could be fun for you, but if you are not, you don’t really have to do it.”

Basically I'd like adults to stay away from my kids, period. .

right because once little children hear about kissing they immediately become sex drones bent on having sex.. your clearly as educated on the matter as dean aren't you?

I'm sorry are you insinuating that there are adult at the museum trying to meet your children?

Why does one need to be "Educated" about Sex? Most kids cannot write properly. Can't parents and friends get this job done? I am glad my Mum told me all one needed to know (She is French, nothing was hidden), my friends filled in the rest, and some was found out through unguided experimentation. Much preferable model than a paid anal sex advisor.

ya you'd think it would be simple, but the cons aren't happy until everyone is forced to believe like them and only be educated in the subjects of their choosing

I thought Canadians were getting a rest from Dean lately. Now this! All hands on deck! Attack whatever. It is what the Conservatives are good at. Attack.

I would like the ministers in this government to just once, think about what they say before they say it. Biology is not science? What school did he attend?

Can't find it specified anywhere, but St. Paul's Catholic School in Lakefield, Ontario is likely a good bet.

Lakefield District Secondary School then Adam Scott CVI in Peterborough when his family moved. I had some of the same teachers as him. He didn't get that from school, guaranteed.

Let's be fair now. Obviously no one has ever explained to Deannie just how this whole sex thing works. He probably associates the term for copulation with what happens in his business deals and so he thinks it's dirty. Moreover, he seems more familiar with pornography than with biology so whatever sex information he received may be a bit bent. Unfortunately, he claims that he will not visit the exhibit so any chance of updating him on this marvelous human activity will not happen. Maybe his partner will fill him in, the poor dear.

There's a drinking game for Power and Politics w/ Evan Solomon. When a CPC MP says, "Let me be perfectly clear," drink. Good thing it's on at happy hour.

Conservatives are such prudes. Shake off the shame and enjoy life. Sex is natural and fun. I plan on taking all my kids to see this exhibit this weekend.
