PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. - A Nova Scotia judge has reserved his decision on whether to block the proposed closure of an elementary school in Heatherton while a judicial review makes its way through the courts.

The Strait Regional School Board says it plans to close Rev. H.J. MacDonald School by June 30.

Judge Patrick J. Murray of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court said Tuesday he will deliver his decision in Port Hawkesbury before that deadline.

Two parents applied for a stay of the board's decision, saying the closure would be disruptive for their families.

Murray says the judicial review will be held on Aug. 16 and Aug. 17.

It will also look at the proposed closure of the West Richmond Education Centre in Evanston.
