Teens sought in Vancouver Island rodeo robberies

RCMP officers near Victoria are looking for a group of teens that allegedly robbed several people at knifepoint at a weekend rodeo.

Sgt. Max Fossum of the Westshore RCMP says at least three people were robbed at knifepoint at the Luxton Rodeo or near the rodeo grounds on Sunday evening, but many victims have been reluctant to come forward.

All of the victims were teenagers, but one victim was uncooperative and the others came to light because the incidents were reported by their parents.

One teen who did speak to police said he was approached by five males and one female, and was forced at knifepoint to hand over his identification, cellphone and cash.

Police have one suspect, but Fossum says so far they've been unable to make an arrest.

"We did talk to this person but we did not have enough grounds for arrest, but we do believe there are more victims out there and we're encouraging them to come forward."

Fossum says police will be reviewing surveillance tape and are confident the group will be caught.
