Gatineau Police Major Crime Unit At Aylmer Home

Posted: Updated:

A man is in custody but has yet to be questioned by police in Gatineau, Que., after police say at least two people were found dead at a home in the Gatineau suburb of Aylmer.

Police were called to the scene at 1:15 p.m. ET to 64 Félix-Leclerc Street, a home near the Rivermead Golf Club.

Police removed what appeared to be a body from the home but would not provide a description, or provide the number of dead — other than to say they found "some" bodies — saying they are still attempting to contact family members.

The arrest was made following the discovery of the bodies.

Const. Pierre Lanthier said they were interviewing the man in custody, but would not release his age or identity or say whether they believe he was a suspect.

2nd crime scene at golf course

Police cordoned off the area around the home as well as a second area at an abandoned van at the Rivermead Golf Club course parking lot, less than a kilometre from the home. The van was packed in the back with multiple items, including children's toys.

Police were also looking in bushes behind the home, and in neighbours' yards for evidence.

The house on Félix-Leclerc Street is registered to Claude Levesque and Louise LeBoeuf.

Neighbours said the older couple operated a bed and breakfast at the home and shared the dwelling with their daughter, her boyfriend and a young child.

According to two neighbours, the home was recently converted to a halfway house. Police could not confirm any information about the home or its owners.
