FREDERICTON - New Brunswick Premier David Alward says he has concerns about the federal government's changes to the employment insurance system.

Still, the Conservative premier isn't criticizing the Harper government.

He says he's glad Ottawa is phasing in the changes, which make it more difficult for seasonal workers to maintain benefits over the long term.

In the meantime, he says he plans to study the changes more closely.

The changes have come under fire from critics who say the federal government is making it too difficult for fishermen and farmers to get E-I benefits.
