It’s also a quick meal for those on the run.
Low-Cal Tuna Burger
Serve with crinkle-cut veggie sticks for a healthy side dish.
2 cans (each 85 g) tomato and onion flaked light tuna
2 egg whites
125 ml (1/2 cup) panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)
2 lettuce leaves
2 whole-grain kaiser rolls (sliced horizontally)
30 ml (2 tbsp) non-fat cottage cheese
2 cloves roasted garlic
2 tomato slices
2 onion slices
2 strips turkey bacon, cooked
2 dill pickles, for garnish
In a large bowl, combine tuna, egg whites and panko. Form into 2 burger patties.
In a small bowl, mix together cottage cheese and roasted garlic. Set aside.
In a saute pan over medium-high heat, place tuna burger patties and saute for 3 minutes per side.
Place lettuce leaf on one half of each kaiser roll and top with seared tuna burger.
Place 15 ml (1 tbsp) of the cottage cheese mixture on top, followed by tomato, onion and turkey bacon. Place remaining half of kaiser roll on top and skewer with a dill pickle.
