Small plane crashes on lake near Cochrane, Ont.

The Transportation Safety Board has dispatched a team to investigate after an Air Cochrane plane crashed on Lillabelle Lake just north of Cochrane, Ont. Friday afternoon.

The de Havilland Beaver was attempting a landing when it was flipped over by the wind and submerged, said Mark Jones, office manager with Air Cochrane.

It is not known if anyone was injured or killed in the crash. The aircraft can seat up to six people, Jones said.

Air Cochrane runs fly-in fishing and hunting flights in the area.

TSB investigators aren't expected on the scene until late Friday or early Saturday.

Cochrane is north of Timmins, Ont., which is currently dealing with forest fires.
