MONTREAL - Quebec's months-long conflict over tuition fees shifts to Quebec City today where students and the provincial government will meet for another round of negotiations.

Representatives from the province's four largest student associations are scheduled to take part in talks this afternoon with the province's education minister.

The meeting comes at a crucial time — with thousands taking to the streets nightly in protest and Montreal's peak tourist season fast approaching.

Some student leaders have suggested they may be ready to compromise on the planned tuition hikes.

Leo Bureau-Blouin, the head of one student group, says the talks could represent a last chance for the government to end the conflict.

He says if they don't reach an agreement soon it will be very hard to reach one in the coming weeks, with the protest movement heating up.
