Eduard Khil, the Soviet-era singer, who became better known as the Trololo man is critically ill.

Russia Today reports that Khil has severe brain damage and requires surgery.

"Doctors suggest Trololo man’s life could be saved, but he would need urgent surgery, Gazeta.ru reports. Even if the singer survives the operation, there are no guarantees of recovery," the site reported.

The 77-year-old singer reportedly suffered a stroke earlier this week, reports Radio Free Europe.

Khil, who was a well-known Russian folk singer, gained fame outside of Russia when a vintage video of him singing the Russian song "I Am So Happy to Finally Be Back Home" became an internet hit. The video has been viewed more than 12 million times and spawned dozens of imitations.
