New York Rangers forward Marian Gaborik will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder next week, the club announced.

The Rangers did not provide an expected timetable for his layoff, but the 30-year-old Gaborik reportedly told reporters in his native Slovakia that a November return would be realistic.

It was not immediately clear when he the injury first occurred.

Gaborik was third in the NHL this season with 41 goals, to go along with 35 assists.

He appeared in all 102 regular season and playoff games for New York, but scored just five times in 20 post-season games, with six assists.

Gaborik has 324 goals since entering the league with Minnesota in 2000-01, tied for 17th among all active players.
