More than 25,000 cyclists have taken to the streets of Montreal for the 28th Tour de l’Île.

The 50 kilometre bike ride started at Jeanne Mance park just after 9 a.m. and will wind across the island today.

For drivers, it may be a bit difficult to get around town. Many roads and thoroughfares will be closed for the duration of the event.

The sun did emerge for part of the morning, but isolated showers are still expected for this afternoon.
