Toronto officer released from hospital after being struck

A Toronto police officer has been released from hospital after being struck by a car while riding his bicycle on patrol Saturday night.

The officer was struck near Finch Avenue and Highway 400, by a suspected impaired driver. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was later released from hospital.

A 29-year-old male suspect was later taken into custody.

The suspect faces four criminal charges, including impaired driving and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

He is due to appear in court on Sunday.
