Gas leak capped in east end Toronto

A gas leak that prompted the evacuation of 150 homes in the city’s east end on Monday afternoon has been capped .

Toronto police Const. Wendy Drummond tweeted that the gas leak occurred on Hupfield Trail, which is located near the intersection of Finch Avenue East and Neilson Road.

Mary Shadd Public School, which is located at 135 Hupfield Trail, was initially put under a hold and secure order. School was closed early and students were dismissed.

Just before 5 p.m., Enbridge Gas told CBC News learned that the gas leak had been capped and crews were working restore services to over 40 affected homes.

Enbridge was called to the scene in the early afternoon to take care of the leak.
