Pride — one of the seven deadly sins that originated in the works of Evagrius Ponticus, a fourth century monk — was characterized by him, more aptly, as hubris. Whether it’s called pride, hubris, excessive self-regard or obstinacy, that trait can lead to an employer’s downfall. And I would say hubris just cost Research in Motion millions of dollars.
