Really? Anyone else need any more evidence that polls are meaningless, entirely manipulated to get the answer one wants?

Time to outlaw and dismantle these outdated, inaccurate propoganda machines.

Justin hasn't done enough to build any longlasting trust.

Name recognition is a double-edged sword. A lot of people have kneejerk reactions to his surname, in both directions.

I'd support him him when and if he shows himself to be his own man, and that he can be trusted to be guided by principles, not rhetoric.

In other words: he needs to demonstrate that he can resist blandishments, bribes and flattery from within his own party as well as from lobbyists and corporate sponsors, and to demonstrate that he can be a creative leader with new ideas that strengthen our country's rights, freedoms and autonomy in a global system.

It's unfair, I know. In the Opposition, there are few ways to shine a spotlight on these kinds of qualities. But Jack Layton did it, long before he became the NDP leader.

I won't accept anything less.

I think the allure of someone young and passionate (with the Trudeau name) would appeal to many people. However, I don't really think that love affiar would last as I can't really see him as being prepared to truly lead just yet. He's not really even-handed or level-headed enough to be a consensus builder, IMO, both within Canada and outside its borders.

Frankly, Justin reminds me more of his mother than his father, but if I could be convinced he was capable of defeating Harperism in Canada, I could support him. But I could also support Mulcair if he seemed to be the best path to defeating Harperism. In short, Harperism is the enemy, defeating it the primary goal, and the 'leader' in achieving that goal is secondary.

I think even someone as right of centre as myself would vote Mulcair if it came down to a choice between these two.

Huffpost, you really should check out the editorial board of this supposedly Canadian portion of the site...Grits and Cons working together to try and undermine the obvious choice of the country for the next Federal Government...the NDP...even the polls they supposedly 'quote' don't back up their headlines...but these rightwingers think that the average N. American just reads headlines, at best...otherwise, how do they rationalize lying in this article about what the poll (the one they use for their position) doesn't back up what they say?
I've always thought that polls were like any info, can be used to interpret things in whatever way suits the polling group, at the behest of whoever is paying for it..no balanced or even semi-accurate data in evidence.

Whuh? The Star article says nothing about "could lead to first place", even though its own headline says just what this one days. The same survey that's being hyped as claiming this also show the NDP in first place. You can't have it both ways.

To me, this is just more sell job to try and make him a credible candidate when he's really not, when really it's only his father's name even more than his supposed good looks and schoolboy "charm"....puff and stuff, no real weight at all.

A pretty shallow editorial attempt to continue the division of the progressive face of this country - either to help the Tories to stay in power, or to give the establishment Liberals back ahead of the NDP.

Putting a puppy's face on an old dog just won't work. And re-tooling polls as if they say something other than what they obviously do (that the NDP would win) is getting really boring....
