EDMONTON - The Alberta government is trying to improve fairness in the workplace through a combination of education and enforcement regarding employment standards.

Its efforts include the launch of a new web page, which names employers who have not paid employees properly.

Most employment standards claims involve unpaid earnings.

The new web page includes the names of approximately 1,700 employers with unsatisfied claims for earnings totalling over $14 million.

Government officials say employers can have their names removed from the list by paying the earnings as directed.

The webpage is http://employment.alberta.ca/sfw/esjudgments.asp
