Many talented young hockey players got the thrill of having their names called at the NHL Entry Draft on Friday night in Pittsburgh.

The Edmonton Oilers kicked things off by selecting forward Nail Yakupov with the first overall selection, but in case you missed it here's a pick-by-pick breakdown of each team's first-round choices. Fans alike weighed in on what their favourite teams were doing, and talked all things hockey during our chat so check out what they had to say.

If you want to see what any of this year's top-10 draft class looked like donning their new team's colours, take a look by clicking here.

But draft night isn't all about picks. A couple of trades were made, highlighted by the Pittsburgh Penguins dealing Jordan Staal to the Carolina Hurricanes for Brandon Sutter, Boston College defenceman Brian Dumoulin and the eighth overall pick in this year's draft — which the Pens used to take defenceman Derrick Pouliot.

As CBCSports.ca senior hockey writer Tim Wharnsby writes, the deal — which reunites Jordan with brother Eric — is a mutually beneficial swap.
