SOURIS, P.E.I. - A walk-in health clinic in eastern Prince Edward Island is set to re-open next week after a shortage of doctors shut the facility down in May.

The provincial government says two full-time physicians have been hired for the Eastern Kings Health Centre in Souris, while a third is expected to start by September.

A number of other physicians will offer additional support during the summer and fall.

Health Minister Doug Currie says re-opening the clinic was a top priority for the government.

He says he met Thursday with the North East Community Alliance, a citizens' group concerned about rural health care.

Currie says he plans to meet with the alliance again for a broader discussions about health care on the Island.
