ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Newfoundland residents are rallying for a crosswalk on a deadly stretch of road.

Concerned citizens were protesting on Thorburn Road in St. John's on Monday in the area of last week's pedestrian-vehicle accident that claimed the life of 21-year old Erin Bursey.

Organizer June Sharpe says its the latest in a string of accidents and near-misses on the busy road over the last few years.

Sharpe says she's putting together a petition calling for St. John's city council to put in another crosswalk.

She says residents will be back protesting this afternoon.
