Vancouver police warn of purse snatchings

Vancouver police are issuing a public warning after four purse-snatching street robberies in northeast Vancouver, all involving elderly women.

The first robbery occurred April 30 and the most recent incident was on Tuesday, and in each case the description of a male suspect was different.

Three of the victims were injured, mostly with scrapes and bruises. One woman suffered a dislocated shoulder and was treated in hospital.

All four robberies occurred in daylight when the victims were walking alone in the following areas:

- 3000 block E 2nd Avenue.

- 2900 block Venables Avenue.

- 800 block Kamloops Street.

- 100 block North Templeton Drive.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to call the the general investigation unit at 604-717-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
