OPP report 4 deadly crashes in southern Ontario

Ontario Provincial Police report four fatal crashes that have occurred in southern Ontario since Saturday morning.

The most recent crash occurred Sunday morning in the Township of Chatsworth, about three hours northwest of Toronto.

According to an OPP news release, a driver lost control of a Kia Sorento while driving west along Grey Road 25 at about 3:30 a.m. ET Sunday.

The vehicle entered the south ditch of the road, collided with "several tree stumps," rolled and caught fire.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are still investigating the crash.

Truck rollover leaves driver dead

Hours earlier, OPP were investigating a deadly crash that occurred in the Township of Blandford-Blenheim on Saturday night.

OPP say a pickup truck was heading east along Township Road 8, east of Oxford Road 3, when it left the road and rolled over at about 10:45 p.m.

The male driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene, while a male passenger was taken to a hospital in Woodstock, Ont., with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation. Police have not yet released the name of the deceased.

Teenager killed, 2 others injured

A crash near Strathroy claimed the life of a teenager in the early hours of Saturday morning and left two other teenagers with non-life-threatening injuries.

OPP said the crash happened at 3:23 a.m. on Ball Park Road.

The three teens were travelling in a Plymouth Neon headed south on Ball Park Road when it swerved to avoid a dog on the road.

The vehicle rolled over and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

OPP said the 18-year-old driver, Kevin Dawson-Olafsson, of Oneida Settlement, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two other passengers — a 19-year-old London woman and a 13-year-old boy from Oneida Settlement — were not ejected in the crash.

Toronto man killed on Highway 401

Early Saturday, OPP also responded to a crash in the eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401 at Kennedy Road in Toronto.

Police said a man driving a Toyota Echo lost control of his vehicle at about 3:20 a.m., crossed over a grassy median, hit a pole and came to rest against a guardrail.

He was pronounced dead the scene.

His name has not been released, though police said he is a 20-year-old man from Toronto.
