Head-on crash on Highway 27 leaves 1 dead in Vaughan

York Regional Police are investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred in Vaughan on Monday morning.

Police were called to a collision on Highway 27, near Nashville Road, at about 10:40 a.m. ET.

From what police know so far, a southbound car collided with a truck that was travelling north. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Police say a male and two females who were inside the car were taken to hospital, where one of the females was pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

The southbound lanes of Highway 27 were closed for hours at Nashville Road, as were the northbound lanes at Major MacKenzie Drive West, while police investigated the crash. They reopened at around 6:30 p.m.
