MOOSE JAW, Sask. - The mayor of Moose Jaw, Sask., says he will not seek re-election.

Glenn Hagel made the announcement on Wednesday, with his family by his side.

Hagel was elected as mayor in 2009, and before that, he served for 21 years as MLA for Moose Jaw North.

Hagel will serve out the final four months of his term as mayor and welcome the newly elected mayor this October.

He said he wants to spend more time with family — he has a two-year-old granddaughter and another grandchild on the way.
